The authenticity of the exegesis of Ibn kathir (sahih tafsir ibn kathir) - tawbah

The Exegesis of Ibn Kathîr is, no doubt, the most singular exegesis. To through centuries, Muslims adopted it as an indisputable reference. Its importance, perhaps, exceeds that of the exegesis ofAt-Tabarî , considered the Mother of Exegeses, in that it is much more accessible to the common of Muslims. We can explain this recognition and adherence if we understand that Ibn Kathîr composed his exegesis by adopting a methodology in which no one preceded him. Her work was therefore unique to her, and she remains a reference in her field.

For the neophyte, the exegesis of Ibn Kathîr may seem voluminous, while it is nothing and it is on the contrary a marvel of concision. It is comparable to a feast, a party dish in which everyone can eat in satiety. Each specialist will find out what it will be worth, whether it is the exegete, the hadith scholar, the jurisconsulte, the linguist, or the historian. But for the beginner or common man, some elements of this exquisite dish are too high and hardly assimilable. Indeed, many have tried, with more or less success, to propose a summary. But the exegesis of Ibn Kathîr is already condensed, it's not just that.

That’s what happened. shaykh Ahmad Shâkir and that is what makes his work unique : he did not seek to summarize but, on the contrary, to preserve the maximum of elements, in order to preserve the essence of Ibn’s work Kathîr. He did not elect that which was clearly weak or that did not directly clarify the understanding of the verse, while suppressing repetitions, in order to facilitate reading.

We wanted to propose to the Francophone public a work that is based on solid scientific bases and the work of recognized scholars.So we left a full edition of Ibn’s exegesis Kathîr to which we applied several filters : (1) Work shaykh Ahmad Shâkir which allowed us to preserve the essence of Ibn’s exegesis Kathîr while deviating what could hinder the unwarranted reader's understanding of scientific writings. (2) Work shaykh Muhammad Pass Ad-Dîn Al-Albaî concerning authentication of the hadiths. (3) Work shaykh Muqbil Ibn Hâdî Al-Wâdi'î concerning certain hadiths not referenced in the works of shaykh Al-Albaî, but also the authentication of the causes of revelation. On this last point, we used several books of past and contemporary scholars, as well as several academic works to establish the authenticity of certain accounts. 4) It is a few rare verses that Ibn Kathîr did not explain. In this situation, we proposed to the reader the exegesis of Ibn JarîrAt-Tabarî. And it is only Allah who grants success.
