One of the eminent historians of Medina from the first and best, generations of Islam, Muḥammad ibn Al-Ḥasan ibn Zabālah (d. 199 H.) was one of the first authors to devote an entire book to the wives of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, the Mothers of the believers, about whom Allah, exalted be He, says: "O Prophet! We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you gave their dowries..." [Al-Aḥzāb : 50]. This is part of their great virtues, since Allah, exalted be He, elected them to be the wives of His Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

He, exalted be He, also says about them, "...and his wives are their mothers..." [Al-Aḥzāb: 6] Ceci est une autre de leurs vertus qu’Allah leur accorda, à savoir d’être les Mères des croyants. De plus, Il, exalté soit-Il, les décrit par ailleurs dans le Coran, disant : « Ô femmes du Prophète !
