Charh As-Sunna - Imam Isma'il Ibn Yahya Al-Muzanî - Explained by Shaykh Zayd Ibn Muhammad Ibn Hadi Al-Madkhalî - Ibn Badis
This epistle of the eminent scholar Al-Muzani, who died in the year 264 of Allah's mercy on him, is one of the most important writings of scholars on the clarification and explanation of the belief of the pious predecessors.
The reason for this epistle's life is as follows: at a religious science base, the discussion focused on the scholars of Sunnah people such as Mâlik, Ach-Châfi'i, Ath-Thawri, Ahmad ibn Hanbal and many others. One of the controversial students then about Al-Muzani, saying: He's not a scientist. Then the others said: Why then? He replied: I heard him speak about predestination and he polemics using syllogism and speculation. This afflicted them and they wanted to know the truth about these words. They then wrote a letter to Al-Muzani, asking him to clarify his belief. The letter came to him and his answer was none other than that epistle in our hands.
Our Sheikh, the learned scholar, Zayd ibn Muhammad Al-Madkhali, whom Allah has mercy upon him, has completed the explanation of this epistle which contains, in his few lines, a precious and beneficial summary of the belief of our pious predecessors, the companions whom Allah has accepted them and those who have followed them in good.
